An etching on the side..

In my spare time while waiting around for stuff I decided to do another little etching to intergrate into my work and it also gave me something to play around with over christmas.

I chose to do an image of a bra simply because to me its one of the most feminine things out their. And seeing as i was looking into gender and symbolism I thought what better than a bra..?

So I printed it in a couple different colours...

Then I decided to expiriment and play with them over christmas. :)

So I tried sewing ..

I added very light semi transparent paper with trolley silhouettes cut out of it to link an image I had been working with to it. The trollies were on a cloths line so I thought why not but a bra in the mix..

Im pretty happy with the way this one turned out I really enjoyed sewing onto paper.

Woodcut.

The woodcut I did came from my Humour project. I chose an image I drew of a Hoover-tank.. showing a humerous connection between male and female. In this case it came from my praents professions wich are both quite gender steriotypical.. My mam a Cleaner/Housewife and my dad in the Army.

I chose to try out my first reduction print.. It was somewhat stressful to say the least.. I made plenty of mistakes from not reversing my image, to not cutting enough away.. but from every mistake I learned alot. I just need to plan better and take my time next time. :)

First two colours of reduction: White and light grey.

Third colour of reduction: dark grey.

Final colour of reduction: Black.

This image disappointed me a little as i dont think it suited a reduction style print. and maybe if it was the right way around. :P But I still want to practice more with woodcut and develop a suitable style.

Some Multimedia..

I did multimedia at the start of this semester and heres a couple of images I played around with.

Skelleton wallpaper.

I didnt get as much use out of multimedia as I wanted in the first semester but I intend on playing with it more in semester 2.

Lithography. 2011.

This my Lithograph that i did in november. It was my second attempt at Lithography. We got more into the technical side of the process this time I found it really interesting and pretty intence at times. Still lovely all the same though. :)

 Drawing stage..

 I used touch to draw on the stone to get a softer effect. I used a combination of light, medium and strong to create a range of tonal qualities.

I tried a pooling method to try let the touches blend together better. I really like the way the touch looked on the stone before printing. It had a nice sepia effect.

 I printed an edtion of eight prints from this stone. I was happy enough with the outcome but if I was to do it again i'd spend more time blending as the dark bits were too dark and the light much too light...

 I printed a couple off center as to add to the print with inks or water colours to experiment and see the outcome.

I really enjoyed this prosess and can definetly see myself having another go in the future. :)

mini fountains!!:)

Here are pics of the mini fountains I mentioned earlier..I hung them from a window and caught their shadow on white paper at the other side of the room its interesting how light changes:) I quite like how they turned out very little and dainty:) I like this because its the opposite to the actual fountain witch is huuuge! and to me it still works:) the backdrop is spraypainted lace that i started expirimenting with! I find it also worked well as it follows the delicate fancy decorations on the fountain!!

more lanterns!!

Alrighty so I found this really cool old broken lamp that my mom was throwing out so I made a candlelit lantern out of it! It was pretty simple but I love it! I just put stensils of the fountain around it and let the light shine through!:)

Ok sooo... I started cutting mini fountain stensils from white card to make mini 3D fountains!:) as I went along I realised the card with the shapes cut out was pretty interesting in itself and I started thinking what way i could use them?? ... I figured I wanted to go along the line of casting shadows as I thought these would be ideal for this...but instead of just using them alone to cast the shadows I decided to add light! in the form of candles.:) Im pretty happy with the results it was a pretty fun process!
